Advertising Signs

Introduction

Advertising Businesses and products has been the norm dating back to ancient times. The Egyptians used papyrus for advertising. Mosaics and walls were also used in such a manner. This is no different from the 19th and 20th Century where newspapers and brick walls (usually side of buildings) were being used for advertising. By the later centuries the use of cardboard, metal and plastic were preferred materials for advertising to be made into signs. Easy to mount on walls, display on stands outside shops and slot into small stands on shop counters made marketing products more durable.

Marketing Products Using Signs

First the size of the sign is relevant to the item being marketed and as to where the sign is to be displayed. The material is also of importance here. For example you would not use a cardboard sign on the outside of a shop as this would not stand the elements of the weather. Signs are designed to be bold and with flash reading ease. As a potential customer you want to instantly know what the product is and what it does. To be presented with a price is even better. Over the years advertising images. company slogans and colour pallets have all changed in keeping with fashion and trend for the era.
